The White House has launched a 24-hour digital streaming service, “TRUMP TV: The Essentials Station,” as a dispute between President Donald Trump’s administration and major US news organisations disrupts the traditional television coverage of the presidency.
The channel began streaming on Monday, September 21, 2026, through the White House’s official YouTube channel and website. It offers presidential speeches, administration announcements, previously recorded footage and selected highlights, giving the administration a direct channel to distribute video content without relying on traditional television networks.
The launch coincided with an unprecedented suspension of the White House television pool after the administration prevented CNN from carrying out its scheduled pool duties.
ABC, CBS, Fox News, CNN and NBC traditionally share the responsibility for filming presidential events and distributing the footage to other broadcasters. The networks suspended that arrangement after CNN, MS NOW and Politico were barred from White House grounds.
The development has placed presidential media access, independent reporting and the administration’s direct use of digital platforms at the centre of a widening dispute.
The White House presented Trump TV as a central destination for footage of the administration’s activities.
Its stated purpose is to bring together major presidential remarks, videos, announcements and other highlights in one continuously available stream.
Unlike conventional television news, the platform is controlled by the White House itself. That means viewers can access material released by the administration without waiting for a television network to record, edit or broadcast it.
The launch came only days after Trump barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico journalists from the White House.

On Monday, however, the networks suspended the arrangement after CNN was prevented from performing its scheduled duties.
A joint statement from the five broadcasters said the public has an interest in receiving independent information about the government and objected to restricting a news organisation because of its reporting.
CNN had been scheduled to provide pool coverage as Trump travelled to New York for events connected to the United Nations General Assembly.
